There are standards, imposed by both building industries and legal code, for how air quality is to be maintained in any occupied space, business or residential. In toxic mold exposure, mold spores enter the body through the repertory system, as occupants breathe in contaminated air circulated by air conditioning and/or heating vents. Sometimes, the spores are not circulated, but isolated to a specific room or area.
