Corrie Collins

Corrie Collins is an attorney at the Mike Slocumb Law Firm’s Alabama office, located in Birmingham. At the firm, she dedicates her practice to defending the rights of those accused of serious crimes. An experienced trial lawyer, Ms. Collins began her legal career as an Assistant Public Defender before ultimately transitioning into private practice.

Ms. Collins grew up in rural Alabama, where she spent her childhood in Woodstock and graduated from West Blocton High School. She went on to attend the University of Alabama, where she earned a B.A. in Communications with a major in Public Relations and a minor in Political Science. She then went on to obtain her J.D. from the University of Alabama School of Law. During her time in law school, Ms. Collins received the George Peach Taylor Award for Excellence in Advocacy on the National Trial Advocacy Team.

When she first began practicing law, Ms. Collins volunteered to handle legal matters pro bono for people who could not afford to pay. Initially, she did it primarily to gain experience but quickly realized how many people desperately need help and have no way to get it. She also realized that doing something seemingly small for another person can make an impactful difference in that person’s life.

Today, Ms. Collins continues to treat her clients just as she would want members of her own family to be treated. She utilizes an honest, transparent approach, working hard on behalf of her clients and openly communicating with them throughout the legal process. By prioritizing the attorney-client relationship, she is able to gain the trust and respect of the people and communities she serves.

Ms. Collins has received a “Superior 10” rating from Avvo, as well as the 2016 Client Satisfaction award from the American Institute of Criminal Law Attorneys.

In addition to her legal practice, Ms. Collins is actively involved in the community as a volunteer through her local church. She has been a servant leader in various roles, including leading a small group Bible study. Ms. Collins has also served as room mother for the classroom of one of her children and frequently volunteers for nonprofits that are dear to her heart. In her free time, she enjoys reading and binge-watching shows on Netflix, as well as spending time with her children, whom she believes to be the greatest gift in her life.
