Joshua Heard is an attorney at the Mike Slocumb Law Firm’s office in Baltimore, Maryland. There, he represents clients in complex personal injury litigation, specifically focusing on cases involving 18-wheeler crashes, motorcycle collisions, and other motor vehicle accidents. A dedicated advocate for the injured, Mr. Heard is passionate about helping his clients obtain the justice they deserve. He strives to be a voice for the voiceless and works directly with the people he serves to guide them through the often confusing and challenging legal process.
Mr. Heard was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia. He attended Howard University in Washington, D.C., where he earned his undergraduate degree before going on to obtain his J.D. from Hofstra School of Law in New York. Before joining Mike Slocumb Law Firm, Mr. Heard served as a public defender, helping clients accused of serious crimes protect their rights, freedoms, and futures.
Originally attracted to the practice of law by an innate desire to empower others and fight for the protection of society, Mr. Heard is devoted to serving his clients’ needs. He approaches his practice by getting to know his clients on an individual level, listening to their concerns and relating to their struggles. This relational approach acknowledges that all actors, whether individuals or organizations, have distinct identities yet are inherently interconnected and cannot maximize their own good in isolation. Mr. Heard believes in working together with his clients and opposing counsel to achieve the best possible outcomes.
Mr. Heard also strives to ease the stress his clients are under. He works to make the law digestible and understandable for all. His clients include people from different parts of the world and all walks of life; Mr. Heard prides himself on his ability to relate to and guide every individual he serves.
Mr. Heard is admitted to practice in New York, with bar admissions pending in Maryland and Washington, D.C. He is a member of the New York Bar Association and has been honored with the Gold Award for pro bono work in New York after accruing 750+ hours of pro bono legal services.
An avid Atlanta Falcons, Atlanta Hawks, and Atlanta Braves fan, Mr. Heard enjoys spending his free time watching sports.
