Zachary Trader

Attorney

Attorney Zachary P. Trader was drawn to the practice of law because he has always liked arguing. As a child, he would take positions he did not necessarily agree with personally, just to have an opportunity to argue. Today, his job as a lawyer is not only to argue on behalf of his clients, but also to anticipate what the opposing side intends to argue so he can be prepared for it.

As the son of two United States Air Force members, Zachary moved around quite a bit when he was young. Ultimately his parents settled in Alabama. After graduating from high school, he attended the University of Alabama at Birmingham, which is where he met his wife, Lauren. When he is not in the courtroom or watching Auburn athletics, Zachary enjoys golfing and spending time with his wife and two daughters. He is an active member of his church and volunteers as an assistant coach for his daughter’s U7 soccer team.

Mr. Trader received his undergraduate degree from the University of Alabama. He went on to attend Faulkner University’s Thomas Goode Jones School of Law, where he graduated summa cum laude and received his J.D. Before joining our firm, he worked for an insurance defense firm, defending insurance carriers and their insured drivers in claims arising from personal injury accidents. This experience has given Zachary insight into how the “other side” works.

Today, he is an attorney in the Birmingham, Alabama office of the Mike Slocumb Law Firm. Mr. Trader focuses his practice primarily on representing people who have been injured through the negligence of others, including car crash and trucking accident victims. He also represents surviving family members of people who have lost their lives through negligence or wrongdoing in wrongful death cases.

Defining moments in Zachary Trader’s career include a recent victory, in which he helped secure a six-figure settlement against one of the largest dining and hospitality corporations in the country, represented by the largest law firm in Birmingham. As a former defense attorney, he knows exactly what insurance companies and their lawyers will do to defend against his cases. This knowledge helps him fully develop and prepare a case to win at trial.

Simply stated, Zachary Trader likes to help people. He understands that no one plans for an accident or expects insurance companies to do all they can to prevent victims from getting paid for their injuries. His job allows him to stand in the way of insurance companies that try to take advantage of accident victims. He takes his clients’ cases as personally as they do.

Zachary is incredibly passionate about his work. Writing has always been one of his greatest strengths. He often leans on that skill to help his clients succeed in complex insurance issues.

He is admitted to the Alabama State Bar and to the United States District Court for the Northern District of Alabama. Zachary P. Trader is a member of the Alabama State Bar Young Lawyers Section. He has been awarded membership in the Order of Barristers, an honor society for U.S. law school graduates.

Membership is limited to graduating law students and practicing attorneys who demonstrate exceptional skill in trial advocacy, oral advocacy, and brief writing.
