Zoey Akin is an attorney at our office in New Orleans, Louisiana. There, she helps Mike Slocumb Law Firm clients with all types of personal injury matters, including claims involving motor vehicle accidents, slip and falls, premises liability incidents, and more. Before becoming an attorney, Ms. Akin worked as a legal assistant for a lawyer practicing disability law and for another lawyer practicing personal injury. This inspired her to expand her ability to help people navigate through some of their most vulnerable moments.
Ms. Akin grew up in Los Angeles and moved to New Orleans for undergraduate studies at Tulane University, where she majored in sociology and obtained her B.A. in Liberal Arts. She attended law school at Loyola University of New Orleans College of Law, where she graduated cum laude with her J.D. During law school, Zoey served as a comment editor for the Journal of Public Interest and a Rule XX Student Attorney with the Criminal Defense Clinic.
Ms. Akin is detail-oriented, motivated, caring, and knowledgeable. Defining moments in her career include obtaining maximum settlements and ensuring her clients are justly compensated. Her approach to her cases is to ensure her client is brought up to his or her pre-accident status and appropriately compensated within the available insurance policies. Ms. Akin relates to her clients with full transparency, talks to them directly, and responds and communicates frequently. All of her clients have her direct line.
Ms. Akin is admitted to the Louisiana State Bar and is a member of the Louisiana Bar Association. Outside of work, she spends time with her boyfriend of six years, their two cats, and friends and family. She also enjoys live music, shopping, and eating.
