Callie Edens is an attorney at the Mike Slocumb Law Firm’s Houston office, where she focuses her practice on personal injury litigation. Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Edens worked in insurance defense, representing the interests of large insurance companies. She describes making the switch to representing plaintiffs in personal injury claims as one of the most defining moments in her career, as she immediately knew that she was on the right side of the fight in the insurance world.
Born and raised in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, Ms. Edens attended Samford University on a softball scholarship, where she met her future husband and won a conference championship. During her time as an undergrad, Ms. Edens took a class entitled “Sports and the Law” and developed a keen interest in the legal world. She went on to earn her law degree from Samford’s Cumberland School of Law. While in law school, she joined a nationally ranked trial team, won several trial competitions, and spent three wonderful years being coached and mentored by some of the best trial lawyers in the South. In her last trial competition, she was named Best Advocate at the Capitol City Challenge at Washington College of Law.
Ms. Edens believes that every case and client is different. She prioritizes the attorney-client relationship to better understand the tough situations in which her clients find themselves. She represents people who are experiencing the most trying times of their lives, physically, mentally, and financially. Building personal relationships with her clients gives her a better perspective from which to fight for them, both in and out of the courtroom, while her competitive nature, developed over nearly 20 years of playing amateur and collegiate softball, equips her with the drive to relentlessly pursue the best possible outcomes on their behalf.
Ms. Edens is a member of the Houston Bar Association and the Texas Young Lawyers Association. In her free time, she enjoys golfing and attending Astros games with her husband, as well as spending quality time with family and friends.
