Nelson Johnson is an attorney at the Mike Slocumb Law Firm’s office in Birmingham, Alabama, where he represents clients in personal injury cases, including auto accidents, slip and falls, and dog bite claims. He handles each individual case with the personal attention it deserves, working directly with his clients to find innovative solutions based on their particular circumstances. This approach has helped him achieve numerous noteworthy successes throughout his career.
Born in Memphis, Tennessee, Mr. Johnson spent the majority of his childhood in Arab, Alabama. His family owned a small cattle farm where he spent time as a child. He attended Arab Highschool, where he was a member of the varsity soccer team, a member of the robotics team, and the FFA.
Mr. Johnson followed in his mother’s footsteps in pursuing a legal career. A paralegal at a plaintiff’s personal injury law firm for most of her career, she jokes that Mr. Johnson was in the courtroom even before he was born. In fact, his first job was working as a courier for the firm where his mother worked. After high school, Mr. Johnson earned his undergraduate degree from Jacksonville State University before going on to pursue his law degree from Cumberland School of Law. There, he served as the senior member of the Trial Board, president of the Federalist Society, and competed in the Cumberland Mediation Team. He graduated in the top third of his class, making the Dean's list every semester.
When helping clients navigate the legal system, Mr. Johnson believes in always being honest, straightforward, and direct. He prioritizes clear attorney-client communication and accessibility. He employs a “people-first” approach, which has earned him the trust and respect of his clients and his community. Driven by a highly competitive nature, Mr. Johnson is always willing to go the extra mile for his clients, even when it means taking cases to trial.
Mr. Johnson is admitted to practice before all Alabama and Georgia state courts, as well as the Alabama Northern Federal District Court. He is a member of the Cullman Bar and the Alabama Association of Justice and has served as a speaker at several professional events, including Winter Break Law Day in Huntsville, Alabama.
In addition to his legal practice, Mr. Johnson is an active member of the local community. He served as a founding board member for the Arab Uknighted Soccer Club and had the great honor of serving as an assistant coach for a competitive U10 boys’ team, as well as a referee. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his wife, Courtney, and their son, as well as hunting and fishing.
