Nia Keys is an attorney at the Mike Slocumb Law Firm’s Washington, D.C. office. There, she supports clients who are navigating difficult legal challenges by creating a comfortable, trusting environment in which they can receive the dedicated help they need. Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Keys obtained valuable professional experience in criminal and family law, working in both the public and private sectors.
Ms. Keys was born and raised in Lake Charles, Louisiana. She attended the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, where she received a B.S. in Criminal Justice. She then went on to earn her J.D. from Texas Southern Thurgood Marshall School of Law. During her time in school, Ms. Keys interned at the Louisiana Public Defender’s office in Lafayette. It was then that she knew that she wanted to pursue a career in law and spend the rest of her life helping people through challenging situations.
Ms. Keys employs a thoughtful, methodical approach to her practice of law. She never loses sight of the fact that her clients are real people facing real challenges in their lives. With this knowledge, she strives to provide a highly personalized and compassionate approach, all while meticulously preparing cases for litigation. A detail-oriented and critical thinker, Ms. Keys is proactive, driven, and passionate about achieving justice for her clients.
Ms. Keys is admitted to practice before the District of Columbia Bar. She is a member of the District of Columbia Bar, as well as the American Bar Association. Additionally, Ms. Keys has volunteered for the Legal Aid Pro Bono Clinic and the Breast Cancer Survivor Support Group.
In her free time, Ms. Keys enjoys binge-watching TV shows, reading, listening to music, traveling, and exploring and trying new things.
